5 Dog Grooming Tips for Fall

As the season changes, so do your dog's grooming needs. Check out 5 dog grooming tips for fall that you can implement below.

1. Use a Moisturizing Shampoo to prevent dry skin. The cold dry air can lead to dry skin. We suggest using Bark Organix's Oatmeal Massage Shampoo + Conditioner Bar to help moisturize and soothe your dog's skin and coat.

2. Be mindful of paws- Clean and moisturize your dog's paws. Check your dog's paws and pads for any signs of dryness. If dry, your dog could benefit from a soothing paw balm.

3. Maintain a bathing/grooming routine. Daily grooming (brushing) and regular bathing are necessary to remove any allergens that stick to your dog’s coat. For in-between grooming/baths, use Bark Organix's Anti-Itch Oatmeal Dog Spray.

4. Be aware of seasonal allergies. Seasonal allergies often flare up in the fall. If you notice your pup chewing or licking themselves, often on the paws and legs, those areas are probably itchy and may even be tender. Excessive gnawing can lead to infected hot spots, bald spots, rashes, and/or a dull coat. Keep your dog's seasonal allergies at bay with these tips.

5. Keep nails trimmed and keep ears clean and dry. It's important to keep your dog's nails trimmed because long nails can collect mud and dirt or snag on debris like rocks and roots. This can cause painful injuries or even interfere with their natural gait, leading to other issues. Keeping your dog's ears clean and dry helps reduce the risk of infection, especially in dogs with floppy or low-hanging ears.

Those are just a few tips to get you started but consult with your groomer or vet for the best plan of action. Happy Fall y'all!
